Terrain Effects


The following chart lists the movement point (MP) costs and combat effects of the various types of terrain you'll encounter in War of the Avatars. When the Combat Effects entry says, "Melee x 0.75," for example, this means that all units in that terrain have their Melee scores lowered to 3/4 of normal.

Mountain, High (HMT) 12 Melee x 0.25
Sea or Lake (SEA) NA ** NA
Snow (SNO) 7 Melee x 0.50
Swamp (SWA) 8 Magic x 0.75, Melee x 0.50, Missile x 0.75
Tundra (TUN) 6 Melee x 0.50
Volcano (VOL) 15 Melee x 0.25

*Add 1 MP if neither you nor an ally controls the hexagon. Movement cost x 2 crossing rivers, x 1.25 crossing streams. Movement cost x 0.5 traveling on a road, x 0.75 traveling on a trail.
**Not Applicable; this terrain is impassable.
